How long will it take to build my site?
The typical turn around time for a project is 15 to 30 business days. A lot depends on the type of website, how much content you are able to provide me with at the beginning of our work together, and your availability to collaborate during the process. I will give you a clearer estimate at the outset of your project. If you are need of a website right away, we can set up a "Coming Soon" landing page to publish while we finish your full website.
Do you work for Wix or Squarespace?
No. Wix and Squarespace are each hosting platforms for website building. I do not work for either company.
Can I edit my site myself?
Yes, once the site is completed, I will train you to make basic edits and updates on your site. During the design phase, though, I ask you not to make any edits.
Will you maintain my site for me?
Most of my clients prefer to maintain their websites on their own. But, I am always here for support at a discounted hourly rate for my returning clients.
Once my site is built, am I done?
No. Your initial website should be conceptualized as part of your overall marketing strategy for your business. It needs to be maintained and developed in the same way you maintain and develop your business.
Do I need professional photos?
Yes, professional quality photos are a must. Investing in a good photographer is an investment that will serve you well. You can also use free stock photos, or purchase some to use on your site, directly from Wix or Squarespace.
Will my project have a contract?
What is your process?
The steps are as follows:
Why should I hire you instead of my cousin or a kid in the neighborhood?
If your cousin or a kid in the 'hood are website designers, they may serve you well. Otherwise, a professional designer like myself is the best way to go. You wouldn't go the the neighbor kid when you want a tooth pulled, right? So, too, with web design. Choose a professional.
Who owns the website once it is completed? Do you have a role in your client's businesses?
My clients own their businesses and their websites. I have no role in their businesses other than as a contractor hired to build their websites and maintain the site, if they hire me to do so. My clients generously allow me to put a link to my site on their's. This is to let visitors know who built the site originally. It does not mean that I have any part in their business beyond website work.
I live in Canada. Will I be able to afford your services?
Yes. I give my Canadian clients a discount to help counter the exhange rate.
When can you start?
As soon as possible. We'll start at a date that suits both of our needs.
